Hollow metal doors are insulated with materials like kraft honeycomb, polyurethane, or polystyrene with a primer finish that’s suitable for painting. They are commonly used on the exteriors of commercial buildings and fire rated openings because they are so strong and durable, compared to alternate materials. As a result of their durability and strength, hollow metal doors have the lowest cost of ownership, are inexpensive, and much easier to maintain than aluminum or wood doors.
